Reel Notes privacy policy

Summary

Reel Notes is a macOS utility made by Eflyn Inc. It does not require a Reel Notes account and does not operate an advertising or analytics service. Your full source recording remains on your Mac.

Information processed

When you analyze a file, Reel Notes sends extracted audio to OpenAI for transcription. It then sends transcript text, your optional context, and selected still images to OpenAI to create the report and visual highlights. This user content may contain personal information present in the recording.

Purpose and service provider

This information is used only to provide the app's transcription, analysis, and visual-summary features. Requests go directly from the app to OpenAI using the API key you supply. OpenAI's handling of those requests is governed by your OpenAI account and OpenAI's applicable policies.

Local information

Media inspection, conversion, playback proxies, screenshots, job state, and completed report folders are created locally. The OpenAI API key is stored in macOS Keychain. App preferences are stored in the app's local container.

Retention and control

You choose the report folder and can delete reports through Finder. Incomplete processing data is retained locally so work can resume. You can remove the API key from Reel Notes settings. Reel Notes does not sell your data and does not use it for cross-app tracking.

Security

Network requests use encrypted HTTPS connections. No system can be guaranteed completely secure; avoid processing material you are not authorized to share with OpenAI.
